2.0 is an Indian sci-fi action movie in the Tamil language of 2018 , written and directed by S. Shankar, as well as co-authored by B. Jaymokhan. Produced by Subaskaran under the banner of Lyca Productions. As the second edition of the Enthiran franchise, 2.0 is an independent continuation of Enthiran (2010), in which Rajinikant plays the roles of Wasigaran and Chitty along with Akshay Kumar and Amy Jackson. Sudhanshu Pandey, Adil Hussein, Kalabhavan Shajon and K. Ganesh act in the background. The film talks about the conflict between Chitty, once a dismantled humanoid robot, and Pakshi Rajan, a former ornithologist who seeks revenge on cell phone users to prevent a reduction in bird numbers. The soundtrack was composed by A.R. Rahman, and the lyrics were written by Madhan Karki and Na. Muzukumar.
Produced with an estimated budget of 570 crore ($ 80 million), 2.0 is the most expensive Indian film to date. Production began in 2015, with major shootings at AVM Studios later this year. The first chart was shot at EVP World. The scenes were filmed mainly in India, especially at the Chennai Madras Boat Club and at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Delhi. The shooting was completed by August 2017. The film is the first in Indian cinema, which was shot in natural form in 3D, filmed by filmmaker Nirav Shah. Legacy Effects returned to the creation of prosthetic makeup and animatronics with visual effects under the guidance of V. Srinivas Mohan. Editing was done by Anthony, and design by T. Muturadzh.
2.0 was released worldwide in both 3D and regular format on November 29, 2018, along with its dubbed versions in Hindi and Telugu. He received generally positive reviews after the release. Critics particularly praised the film’s visual effects, performances by Rajinikant and Kumar and a social message; the pace and the script received criticism. On the first day, he earned 117.34 crore (16 million US dollars) worldwide, which became the second largest figure for the Indian film. The film exceeded 520 crore (equivalent to 560 crore or 78 million US dollars in 2019) on the first weekend to become the highest-grossing film in the world this week. 2.0 is the second highest grossing film in India and the fifth highest grossing Indian film in the world.
